On January 27, 2023, we hosted over 50 guests at our inaugural Women's Leadership Breakfast, celebrating The Power of Mentorship in honor of January being National Mentoring Month.
The morning began with a welcome address from Metro CEO Stephanie Wiggins, followed by recognizing Supervisor Kathryn Barger as our first-ever Power of One Award honoree. This marquee award honors an individual that has had a substantial and direct impact on Friends LA, our youth, and families.
After the award presentation, a robust panel discussion focused on the importance of mentoring for women, moderated by Christina Pascucci from Good Day LA on Fox 11. Panelists included Tomii Crump of NBCUniversal Media, Jennifer Baldocchi from Paul Hastings, and Kristen Dykstra of YITTY Shapewear Reinvented by Lizzo.
Participants shared brilliant examples from their own experiences, emphasizing the importance of having mentor relationships in the career space that are personalized and meaningful.
We're proud to share that we surpassed our fundraising goal and raised over $30,000 dollars to benefit the 200 children and families in our program for the next 12+ years, no matter what.
A special thank you to our event sponsors for their generosity and support! Because of their contributions, along with those of our valued event attendees, we can connect every child who needs one to a Friend.
Creating a new twist on the traditional fundraising event, the Women's Leadership Breakfast hosts female executives in Los Angeles, and an inspiring program and panel, all while honoring a woman who embodies Friends LA's mission with the Power of One Award.
