August 25, 2022 MacKenzie Scott Gifts Friends LA $2.9 Million Makes history as Friends LA's largest gift ever from individual donor Friends LA is thrilled to announce that it has received its largest-ever individual gift from MacKenzie Scott. This generous donation will support our important work in breaking the cycle of generational poverty for Los Angeles' highest-risk children. This catalytic gift will allow us to expand our reach and impact in the community and help ensure we can continue our vital work for years to come. Friends LA's mission is to provide long-term, salaried, professional mentors - called Friends - to the region's most vulnerable children, from kindergarten through high school graduation.
