Originally from Oakland, CA, Marisa Cherry has called the greater Los Angeles area home for over a decade. Marisa is a certified Medi-Cal Peer Support Specialist who is passionate about utilizing her lived experiences to provide support.
Marisa first worked as a youth mentor in 2020. She discovered a sense of alignment in collaborating with youth, using her strengths to help them see – and draw on – their own. Over the next few years, Marisa continued working in community mental health, and specifically in crisis services. She herself has benefited from mentorship through amazing organizations including the Eastern Sierra Conservation Corps.
Outside of work, Marisa pursues endurance sports and the arts. You can often find her unwinding with YouTube, podcasts, TV shows, movies, and books.
Marisa holds a Mental Health Worker Certificate from Cerritos College and a B.A. in Media Studies with a concentration in Critical Studies from Pomona College.
