Laura Zachar (She/Her)

Chief Advancement Officer

Laura Zachar is the Chief Advancement Officer who works with individuals, corporations, and foundations to raise funds for Friends LA to continue to grow and serve more children.

Born and raised in Southern California, Laura believes that all young people deserve equal access to opportunities to achieve their full potential. She has spent nearly 20 years working to close the opportunity gaps in communities in California, New Mexico, and Arizona. After attending Arizona State University, Laura worked for several years in Phoenix and New Mexico with youth development and education organizations, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Girls For A Change, Citizen Schools, Playworks, and Reading Partners. Laura has personally raised over $50 million throughout her career.

Laura holds a degree in Law and Society from Arizona State University as well as a CFRE (certified fundraising executive) accreditation. Outside of work, Laura enjoys yoga, any water activities, and all things animal rescue.
