Kayla discovered her passion for working with youth and families in the community at an early age. She held a position of office as the Chairperson for the Youth of Commission for the City of Carson where she was the voice of the youth in her community. This position allowed Kayla to serve as a liaison to the Council Members and Mayor for providing teen programming for the Parks and Recreation Department.
After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts degree in Child and Adolescent Development with a Community Focus from San Jose State University, she began her career working with special needs students as a Behavioral Specialist. With a quest to represent our underserved children and families of a lower economic status, Kayla has committed to becoming an advocate for at risk youth. She believes the children are our future and is there to support them in overcoming environmental disparities.
