Gabriela Cova (She/Her)

Professional Mentor, Antelope Valley

Gabriela Cova was born in Los Angeles, CA and raised in Palmdale, CA. She believes we all have a purpose and finally found hers at Friends of the Children LA. Gabriela understands and knows the importance of guidance in children and families. She was raised in a family of eight with limited resources and struggles. She comprehends life’s challenges and believes we all need an opportunity or a chance. Therefore, this has become her strength and endurance. She is passionate about giving back and prepared to be a mentor. She is committed to going above and beyond to ensure her friends and their families reach their goals and are successful.

In Gabriela’s early high school years, she volunteered in convalescent homes in the Antelope Valley as well as her local Antelope Valley Hospital. This planted the seed for compassion in helping others. Over the years, Gabriela has worked with adults and youth to reach physical goals and promote mental health. Gabriela has most recently worked with several elementary and middle schools within the Antelope Valley as a mentor, coach, and coordinator for after-school programs. There, she was able to add to her experience in developing, shaping, and inspiring her students to thrive into their best selves. At the same time, teaching education curriculums, social-emotional skills, and competencies.

Gabriela is certified in Business Administrative, Transportation Communications, and Home Health Care at Los Angeles Job Corps. She is graduating with an AS Business Administration degree from Antelope Valley College and will then complete a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management at the University of California, Irvine (UCI).
