Emani Flewelen (She/Her) graduated from California State University, Long Beach with a BA in English Education and Communication Studies. She has worked with numerous at-risk populations as a behavioral interventionist, a teacher, an outreach coordinator, a union organizer and a community organizer. She has experience working with transitional aged youth, pregnant and parenting teens, foster youth and probationary youth and adults in Los Angeles for over 10 years with an emphasis on education, resource advocacy, job access, and organizing policies as it relates to the needs of the communities. Emani also holds her master’s degree in public administration and non-profit management from California State University, Dominguez Hills.
Emani believes that building the capacities of community members will strengthen the success of the children we service. Emani has a passion for community engagement and wellness. She grew up in South Los Angeles and understands the resiliency that this community displays. During her spare time, Emani loves being in nature and in bodies of water. She enjoys cuddling with her dog Rue, CrossFit, and baseball.
