Born and raised in San Gabriel Valley, Cindy Nguyen hails from a first generation immigrant household that taught her the values of resilience and persistence. Having personally witnessed the struggles that her family have gone through led Cindy to commit to working for underserved communities that also face similar systemic barriers and more. Her intentions with doing this work is to help these communities build on their strengths while also supporting the well-being of both children and families in order for them to thrive for generations to come.
Cindy is a proud graduate from San Francisco State University earning her Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Ethnic Studies. She has a background in teaching, connecting with, and mentoring high school aged youth in addition to planning and facilitating various student events and activities. Cindy has also worked with foster youth as a social worker with the Department of Family and Children Services. Cindy hopes to continue her work with youth and families with the Friends LA.
